Why I always offer a complimentary Engagement Session and why you should take advantage of it.
The advantages of doing an engagement session:
You get to know your photographer & they get to know you:
You will spend pretty much the entire day with your photographer, so you want to make sure that you get to know each other. You want to feel comfortable when your photographer arrives on your wedding day and not awkward because you have never met. Honestly I love being able to get to know the brides I work with because I truly share in their happiness and I am honored to capture so many personal and private moments of them with their fiance’ and families.Your photographer will also double as your assistant and can help you throughout the day with any needs or if issues arise they have the knowledge of what happens hour to hour during the big day.
You get comfortable with your close ups:
The photographer will be able to gauge how comfortable you and your fiance’ are in front of the lens. This helps huge for the big day! It lets the photographer know your personalities and what your exactly looking for in your photos, for example by the time the engagement session is done a photographer will know how comfortable you are getting all lovey face or your just not into the overly displays of affection because not every couple is the same. Not all weddings are same.
You get your trials done:
Also for the bride, you can book your trial make-up & hair and seeing pictures of yourselves ahead of time and knowing you will like your photos because lets face it, what bride doesn’t want to get pampered twice! 🙂 this also falls under getting to know your other vendors 😉
Your Save The Dates:
You also have to opportunity to get out those trendy save the dates with photos of you in everyday life. So be sure to book the engagement session as soon as possible. I love when couples opt for having their session done at their favorite beach, coffee house or where they met or proposal took place.
It’s not over at the last dance:
After the last dance when most of your vendors close the book on another wedding, you will still be in close contact with your photographer for weeks to months. You will be ordering prints or choosing favorites for you wedding album. You will have emails and phone calls. Another reason it is so important to feel comfortable and click with your vendors. You want to be able to talk to them about any concerns during every stage of the process regarding your big day.
So don’t you worry about any little thing …….. you have a great photographer by your side!
